The Idoma are the second largest ethnic group in Benue State and occupy 7 LGAs in western Benue: Ado, Agatu, Apa, Ohimini, Ogbadibo, Okpokwu and Otukpo. Och'Idoma's residence: the Och'Idoma Palace in Otukpo; current ruler HRH John Elaigwu Odogbo, Och'Idoma V. Many Idoma groups trace their homeland to Apa; about 300 years ago the break-up of the Kwararafa kingdom led Idoma ancestors south; scholars argue the Idoma have no single origin.
