This peer-reviewed publication provides a comprehensive historical analysis of Tiv marriage institutions from exchange marriage (Yamshe) to Kem Kwase and other traditional forms of marriage. It documents courtship practices, marriage negotiations, fertility rites, bride-price customs, widow inheritance, and the social functions of marriage within Tiv society. The article has been used as a primary academic reference for documenting Tiv marriage customs in the Tiv Heritage Archive.
