Chaha Biam

Chaha Biam, recorded on Wikipedia as Benjamin Chaha, was a Nigerian politician elected to the federal House of Representatives on the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) platform in the 1983 general elections. He became Speaker of the House of Representatives in October 1983, succeeding Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, during the final months of President Shehu Shagari's Second Republic. His speakership, and the Second Republic National Assembly itself, ended on 31 December 1983 when the military coup led by Muhammadu Buhari overthrew the Shagari government. He died on 9 March 2022.

As Speaker of the federal House of Representatives from October to December 1983, Biam presided over the chamber during the closing weeks of Nigeria's Second Republic, before the National Assembly was dissolved by the December 1983 military coup.

He is the only Tiv or Benue State politician known to have held the federal Speakership, albeit for a brief tenure of roughly three months cut short by the coup that ended the Second Republic.
