What you can write to us about
The Tiv Heritage Archive is a community archive of Tiv language, literature, culture and history. The form above reaches the people who edit and maintain it, and replies go to the email address you give. A few notes on the most common kinds of message will help us answer you quickly.
Corrections
If a word meaning, a spelling, a date or a description is wrong, please tell us. Include the link to the page and, if you can, how you know: a family account, a book, or your own use of the language. Customs and spellings differ between clans and families, so a correction that says where your version comes from is especially useful.
Adding new material
To add a word, name, proverb, recipe, story or historical account, the contribution form is quicker than email and needs no account. If you would like to contribute regularly, you can apply to join as a researcher or contributor. Ideas for improving the site itself are welcome on the suggestions page.
Recordings, documents and photographs
If you hold recordings of songs or elders' accounts, old documents or photographs, write to us before sending large files and we will agree the best way to receive them, and how you would like them credited.
Rights and removal requests
If something on this site is your work or shows you or your family, and you want it credited differently or removed, tell us which page it is on and we will review it promptly. For questions about personal data, see the privacy policy. The terms of service explain how material on the site may be used.
Research, schools and partnerships
We are glad to hear from researchers, teachers, cultural associations and media who want to use the archive, cite it or work with us on documenting Tiv heritage.
Problems with the site
If a page does not load, the translator gives an odd result, or something looks broken on your phone, describe what you did and what you saw, and include the page link.
