John Gbor

Maj. Gen. John Wilson Terwase Gbor (rtd) is a retired Nigerian Army officer from Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State, who rose to the rank of Major General and served as Commandant of the Nigerian Army Education Corps before retiring.

Gbor built a career as a Nigerian Army officer, rising to the rank of Major General and serving as Commandant of the Nigerian Army Education Corps, his final post before retirement.

On 8 October 2018, Gbor was elected the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the party's primary in Abuja, running on a platform titled "My Covenant with Nigerians" built around restructuring Nigeria into a true federation, decentralizing policing and the judiciary, security sector reform, economic reform, and youth and women's empowerment. In the 23 February 2019 general election, he placed fifth nationally with 66,851 votes (0.24% of the total), behind the winner Muhammadu Buhari (APC), Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Felix Nicolas, and Obadiah Mailafia. He remained politically active afterward, commenting publicly on subsequent election cycles and Nigerian security matters.

One of relatively few Tiv figures to contest a Nigerian presidential election, running on a restructuring and federalism platform reflecting Middle Belt political concerns.
