Strophanthus; Arrow-poison vine

Strophanthus hispidus
Achikpado; Okpachie

A woody climbing vine known for its flowers' unusually long, thread-like petal tails, and for the potent poison in its seeds.

Seeds contain cardiac glycosides (strophanthin) — historically the source of hunting arrow-poison, later studied in Western medicine as a heart stimulant. Highly toxic; not for informal use.

A climbing liana of forest and savanna edges.
