Description
A sprawling shrub or small tree with heart-shaped leaves, common along forest edges, riverbanks, and fallow land across tropical Africa.
Medicinal Uses
Leaves and root bark are used across West and Central Africa for wounds, conjunctivitis, and as a snakebite antidote; a leafy-twig decoction treats fever, rheumatic pain, and malaria; roots are used for venereal disease and dysentery.
Cultivation
A fast-growing shrub of forest margins and riverbanks, also colonising fallow farmland.
