Bark and roots are used across Africa for hepatitis, jaundice, diarrhoea, stomach ache, fever, cough, toothache, and skin disease.
Food Uses
Its leaves are the sole food source for two kinds of edible caterpillar, harvested by the thousand in the rainy season.
Cultivation
A fire-tolerant savanna tree; the wood is used for mortars and the bark as a basket-weaving dye.
