A deciduous savanna tree with a rounded crown of large, lobed leaves that resemble a cabbage, giving rise to its common name.
Medicinal Uses
Leaves and bark are used across West Africa for malaria, painful menstruation, digestive complaints, and skin problems; root decoctions are used for venereal disease and as a diuretic.
Cultivation
A wild tree of savanna and woodland, often left standing in cleared farmland for shade.
