The Ogun Onire festival is held every year at Ire-Ekiti, in Oye LGA, in honour of Ogun, whom the town regards as its founder; the Onire of Ire, Oba Victor Adeleke Bobade, told The Sun in 2025 that 'Ogun is the father of Ire' and that his own line descends from Ogun's son Ogundahunsi. It is held in August, according to the Onire, though a 2019 report said it was usually held towards the end of the year. Thousands of indigenes and visitors attend, and the Onire has called for it to be developed for tourism.

How evidence is graded
- Verified: Supported by an official source, or by two or more independent sources that agree.
- Well documented: Supported by credible sources, but not yet independently confirmed.
- Reported: Found in a credible source; further corroboration is welcome.
- Needs corroboration: The evidence is thin or incomplete; more sources are being sought.
- Disputed: Credible sources or community accounts disagree; the differing accounts are noted.
- Uncertain: There is not yet enough information to classify this responsibly.
Sources are marked official, academic, reference, community or general web. Sources that copy each other count as one. Oral traditions are recorded as traditions, not as proven fact.
