The Kakanda are named among the minorities of Kogi State by the Federal Government's state profile. Wikipedia describes them as a people of Nupe extraction under Lokoja LGA, and Blench's Atlas places their language, a member of the Nupe group, along the Niger in the old Kogi LGA and in Niger State.
