The Esu Karu holds one of the 22 first-class traditional stools of Nasarawa State listed by Daily Trust in 2012. In a Daily Trust interview (2024) marking twenty years on the throne, the Esu Karu of New Karu spoke of the Karu Kingdom, described the Gbagyi as the most numerous of its people and said a Gbagyi Museum was being built.
