The Michika Chiefdom, with its headquarters at Michika, is a second-class traditional state created in December 2024 (Daily Trust; the Adamawa State Government's list calls it the 'Michika Emirate'). In February 2025 Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga was installed as the Mbege Ka Michika, its paramount ruler; the governor described the coronation as recognising 'the rich cultural heritage of the Kamwe people' (The Guardian).
