Asu is a language of Niger State, according to Roger Blench's Atlas of Nigerian Languages (2020), which classifies it as Nupoid (Nupe group). The Atlas places it in several villages of Mariga LGA, south of Kontagora on the Mokwa road. Other names include Abewa, Ebe. Speaker figures in the Atlas: 5,000 (Blench 1987).
