Shama–Sambuga is a language of Niger State, according to Roger Blench's Atlas of Nigerian Languages (2020), which classifies it as Kainji (Western Kainji: Kamuku–Basa group). The Atlas places it in Rafi LGA: Shama at Ushama (Kawo) town, 15 km north-west of Kagara, and Sambuga at Sambuga town, 10 km north-west of Kagara. Its members include Shama, Sambuga. Other names include Tushama. The Atlas marks Sambuga as possibly extinct (2008).
