Tsô TER shi ande her a na hen ikon i terebin i Mamre er a tema hen hunda u tenti na, oo gera gera yô.

Yahweh appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.

2

Er a kende ashe sha yô, a nenge iorov utar tile un sha ishi; nengen a ve yô, a mough hen hunda u tenti saghera sha u una za kegh ve gbenda yô. A gure inya a kaa er:

He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood near him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,

3

Terem, aluer a doo u a mo yô, de karen a kar hen wanakiriki wou ze he!

and said, “My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don’t go away from your servant.

4

De i va a anmnger, ôô nen angahar a en, mem nen hen itinekon ne;

Now let a little water be fetched, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.

5

yô, m̱ va a ankwaghyan, kundu nen asema a mi man né mase yemen ye; man a bee er ne kar hen wanakiriki wen ye. Ve kaa er: Yô, er ase er u kaa nahan.

I will get a piece of bread so you can refresh your heart. After that you may go your way, now that you have come to your servant.” They said, “Very well, do as you have said.”

6

Tsô Aberaham nyôr ken tenti hen Sara fese, kaa er: Hôr mwem ma kengese, uikaren utar, kaa masa a mi fefa je.

Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly prepare three seahs of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”

7

Aberaham kar ayem za hen ikum i abua, za kôr gumbua u dedoo u a lu inyam legh legh yô, na kpan na; ngula bur fefa je.

Abraham ran to the herd, and fetched a tender and good calf, and gave it to the servant. He hurried to dress it.

8

A tôô atumba a kôrough man a lun alatata kua gumbua u a sôr la, a va ver ve inya; a tile a ve her, hen itinekon la, ve ya.

He took butter, milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them. He stood by them under the tree, and they ate.

9

Ve pine un er: Kwase wou Sara, ngu hana? A kaa er: Ngula ken tenti la.

They asked him, “Where is Sarah, your wife?” He said, “There, in the tent.”

10

A kaa er: Shi Mea hire her a we kpee, hen shighe ne nahan; man nenge, kwase wou Sara una mar wan. Yô, Sara gema lu sha hunda u tenti ken ijime Na, lu ungwan. Yô, Sara gema lu sha hunda u tenti ken ijime Na, lu ungwan.

He said, “I will certainly return to you at about this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.

11

Aberaham man Sara yô, ve bee iyol, ve tsa sha won; Sara de u duen won.

Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.

12

Tsô Sara gba sen ken ishima na, kaan er: Er m̱ bee iyol kera, terem kpaa a bee iyol, nahan kpaa me shi me mar wana?

Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

13

Tsô TER kaa a Aberaham er: Ka nyi Sara a sen a kaan er: Er m bee iyol kera, nahan kpaa me shi me mar wana?

Yahweh said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I really bear a child when I am old?’

14

Ma kwagh u kpilighyol u hemban TER ngu jee? Me hide hen a we sha shighe u i ver la, hen shighe ne nahan, Sara una lu a wan ave.

Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes around, and Sarah will have a son.”

15

Tsô Sara gba tunan kaan er: M se ga; gadia lu cian. Kpa A kaa er: Ei, u se.

Then Sarah denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

16

Ior mbala mough heregh, ver ishigh ken Sodom; Aberaham kpaa mough a ve, za ver ve gbenda.

The men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom. Abraham went with them to see them on their way.

17

Tsô TER kaa er: Me yer Aberaham kwagh u M lu eren ne shinii;

Yahweh said, “Will I hide from Abraham what I do,

18

er Aberaham a lu hingir ikyurior i vesen i ageegh, man akuraior sha won cii aa zua a iveren ken a na yôô?

since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?

19

Gadia M tsuwa un sha er a̱ kaa ônov nav man mba ken ya na ken ijime, ve̱ waan gbenda u TER iko, ve̱ eren perapera man kwagh u a lu vough, sha er TER Una kure Aberaham kwagh u A ôr sha a na la yô.

For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him.”

20

TER shi kaa er: Er mliam ma i vaa Sodom man Gomora ma gbe ikôr, man er asorabo a ve a vihi yum yô,

Yahweh said, “Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous,

21

Me hungwa hegen. Me nenge; aluer ieren ve ia kuma sha mliam ma ma nyer her a Mo la yô, Me fa; shin a lu nahan ga kpaa Me fa.

I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.”

22

Tsô ior mbala undu ijiir la gba yemen ken Sodom, kpa Aberaham tile her sha ishigh ki TER.

The men turned from there, and went toward Sodom, but Abraham stood yet before Yahweh.

23

Nahan Aberaham kporom kaa er: Ú tim orperapera a orifer imôngoo?

Abraham came near, and said, “Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?

24

Alaghga mbaperapera vea lu ken gar la akunduahargber, nahan kpaa Ú tim ijiir la, Ú tsegha i sha ci u mbaperapera mba akunduahargber la gaa?

What if there are fifty righteous within the city? Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous who are in it?

25

Tuna u We nahan Ú er injakwagh ne sha u wuan mbaperapera a mbaaferev imôngo, je, mbaperapera geman hingir kwagh môm a mbaaferev; kwagh ne tuna U tsô; Orjirigh u tar cii, Una kera er vough gaa?

May it be far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn’t the Judge of all the earth do right?”

26

Tsô TER kaa er: Aluer Mea zua a mbaperapera akunduahargber ken Sodom yô, Me tsegha ijiir la cii, sha ci ve.

Yahweh said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

27

Aberaham gema kaa er: Nenge, m gbe cihin ôron kwagh a TER tsô, mo u m lu di inya kua mtwem tsô ne;

Abraham answered, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, although I am dust and ashes.

28

alaghga á zua a mbautaan ken mbaperapera akunduahargber la ga, nahan Ú tim gar cii sha ci u mbautaan mba ve lu ga laa? A kaa er: Aluer Mea zua a akunduahar kar utaan ker yô, Me tim un ga.

What if there will lack five of the fifty righteous? Will you destroy all the city for lack of five?” He said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”

29

A shi a ôr kwagh a Na a kaa er: Alaghga á zua a mi akunduahar keregh. A kaa er: Sha ci u mbaakunduahar mbala yô, Me kera er kwagh la ga.

He spoke to him yet again, and said, “What if there are forty found there?” He said, “I will not do it for the forty’s sake.”

30

A shi a kaa er: TERE, ishima i̱ de vihin We ga, shi me ôr kwagh; alaghga á zua a mi ikundugber keregh. A kaa er: Aluer Mea zua a mi ikundugber ker yô, Me kera er kwagh la ga.

He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?” He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

31

A shi a kaa er: Nenge, m gbe cihin ôron kwagh a TER tsô, alaghga á zua a mi ikundu keregh. A kaa er: Sha ci u mbaikunduv mbala Me tim ga.

He said, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.”

32

A shi a kaa er: TERE, ishima i̱ de vihin We ga, me mase ôron kwagh ne môm tsô. Alaghga á zua a mi pue. A kaa er: Sha ci u mbapuev kpaa, Me tim ga.

He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the ten’s sake.”

33

Tsô TER gba yemen, zum u A kure kwaghôron na a Aberaham la. Aberaham kpaa gba hiden hen ijiir na.

Yahweh went his way as soon as he had finished communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.
